i like when there’s a thin layer of miscellaneous soot on the sidewalks.
like a mixture of gravel, pebbles, and sand.
not enough to get your shoes dirty,
but makes a fun cruchy sound when you walk on it.
Saw an entourage of heavyduty police trucks today.
it was exciting, like something on tv.
black suburbans.
i didn’t even know London had suburbans.
so there were like 4 or 5 of those, and then 3 or 4 of those heavy duty trucks that are used to transport money.
all undercover type trucks, with their lights flickering.
maybe a big drug bust? …or it couldve just been training.
hopefully it was the former b/c the nightly news is SO boring here!
i miss CFTO.
that’s one of the best things about going home.
there’s interesting stuff on the news.
and no, i’m not talking about all violence… just interesting stuff. current. important.
yesterday on the news there was a report at the Uni of Waterloo about large class sizes.
booooring.
they didn’t even say anything new.
“class sizes are getting pretty large. we’re not going to tell you the average numbers or anything… just that it could be a problem.”
something i’ve always wondered about,
why don’t industrial and retail buildings that are around the airport sell their roof space to advertisers?
so many times when i’m on a place i look down at these empty roofs… always thinking, ‘this is prime space for advertisers’.
granted, u wouldnt be able to see them in the winter, or in fog, or in heavy rain.
but, u could still see them at night.
if my memory serves me correctly, there is enough light.
and you could see them in the summer.
they could use a tarp with ads on it.
i’m not saying that they SHOULD do it… i’m just suprised that they haven’t.
that’s a lot of potential revenue.
AHHHHHH!! x2
CORNEILLE IS COMING OUT WITH AN ENGLISH ALBUM!!!
:D!!!!!!!!
je suis tres excited!!!
haha..
although, if i’m wrong about this, i will be disappointed.
I read it on his website.
…which is all in french.
wouldn’t it be funny if i didn’t read it correctly?
well, after apologizing for not putting up his concert dates (or something like that) he said,
“Je dois finir mon album en Anglais
come on…there’s no misreading that!!
then he went on to say that i’ll be done in 2006 and come out in 2007… i believe.
something about Europe too.
maybe that he’ll be recording it in Europe.
and it’ll have a few adaptations of songs from his previous albums…je pense…
et peut-etre a bunch of originals. and he’s not sure about the titles he’s gonna choose.
hah, or something like that.
i’ll translate the page later… when i’m more calm and will be able to sit still and think.
eeeeeeee!!!!
now everyone will know what i’m talking about when i say he is GREAT!
oh. i can’t wait.
AHHHHH!!!!!
CORNEILLE HAS A NEW CD OUT!!!
I haven’t even finished getting various versions of his first album!!
man.
it’s times like these when i feel like a horrible music lover.
his new cd came out at the end of November.
NOVEMBER!!!
cheese.
where was i? what was i doing?
how did i not know this sooner?
anyways. i still working on getting his studio cd of his first album.
there’s a specific one that comes with a double cd of all the songs live.
like Gavin DeGraw!
speaking of DeGraw, guess who’s apparently in the studio recording a new album!!
AND, there’s some more fun music news.
Joshua Radin is coming out with his first full length album on February 7th!
hopefully i’ll be able to get that through Canada’s Amazon site!
[unrelated lyric] “I won’t quit till i’m a star on Broadway”
Labatt’s
so i was at the Labatt’s brewary, warehouse, store, whatever place this weekend.
don’t ask me why… it was a weekend of being places i would usually never go
there was one interesting thing….
multiple signs claimed that Labatts was established in 1847.
Confederation was in 1867.
so… Labatts was around before Canada (=Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick) existed.
i thought that was surprising.
Procrastination + the Radio =
He’s killing me softly with his song.
I want to be somebody else.
We are lovers in a dangerous time.
It’s time to face the truth.
Why should I even bother?
I hope you have the time of your life.
It’s about time that I make up my mind.
Seems so complicated but its really so simple.
here’s a question
how is it that it can be tres slippery outside with frozen rain on the sidewalks and everyone is walking extra carefully and slowly in their proper winter boots but are still slipping and sliding, and then a runner joggs by with out falling on his/her face?
it boggles my mind… it really does.
i studied their shoes too. at first i thought, maybe they wear cleats… that would justify why they don’t ever slip or fall.. but no. they wear normal running shoes.
and in the same way, how come people rarely ever slip/fall when they’re running to catch a bus? they’re obviously not paying attention to what they’re stepping on, they’re focused on their destination.
so, maybe it has to do with not having enough contact with the ground to slip.
…but that just doesn’t seem to make any sense to me either.
i’m probably going to look it up on the internet, cuz its been puzzling me for a while
today
wasn’t today a BEAUTIFUL day?!!
:D
grocery shopping
i bought some huge-o genetically modified strawberries today. i’m so excited.
they look SO good! mmmMMM! i haven’t ‘cracked’ open the container yet, cuz i know once i do, they’ll be gone in like 10 minutes.
ooo! they were on sale too!
BONUS! :D
2’s company, 3’s a crowd
the third wheel thing was awkward like i expected… but it wasn’t ridiculously painful.
so that was good.
downtown
was walking downtown with a few ppl. i had my first Shawarma today! I don’t see what the big deal is…. it wasn’t anything different.
it was good.
but not specifically different.
it was like chicked in a pita.
granted, i didn’t get it from any kind of specialty restaurant, so maybe i didn’t get the real kind?
so after we came out of the restaurant, i pointed to a tattoo and piercings place and said “we should go in there”.
totally joking.
majority won though…and we went into the place.
my first time being in a tattoo and piercings place!
it was good to see that all the staff had piercings and tattoos. ![]()
hehe, if u wanted to see what some kind of piercing would look like on a real person you could just look at one of the workers!
The store was really spacious and clean. it was refreshing.
and then we spent some time looking at their extensive collection of bongs.
iy yi yi.
the most surprising thing was a collection of trick pop cans. which i suppose were used to carry drugs in plain sight.
heh, it was funny cuz along with pop cans, they had Heinz tomato juice cans (that you’d have to open with a can opener) and Comet (bathroom/toilet cleaning powder).
lol. so if i see someone walking down the street with toilet bowl cleaner, i now know that the person is probably carrying drugs.
church
and then tonight i went to church. i hadn’t been in 2 weeks!
i never realize how much i miss it, until i go after not being there in awhile. It was so good, i feel like going again tomorrow, even though it’ll be the exact same service.
and now the strawberries are calling me.
good times
i love the weather we’d had this month.
snow storm one day.
spring weather 2 days later.
another snow storm a week later…
talk about keeping it random.
imagine if it was like this all year round?
that’d be SO much fun!!
i love waking up and being totally blown away by what the weather is from one day to the next.
i suppose i should just enjoy it while it lasts.
so i’m signing up to be a third wheel this afternoon.
its always so awkward.
a year or so ago i vowed never to be a third wheel again.
some situations you just can’t get out of though.
ugh
so i’m sitting here filling out my first job application of 2006.
i feel like throwing up.
…haha. not really….i don’t think i can adequately describe the feeling.
everyone probably gets it with job applications.
this one is due on monday. which is why i’m doing it now… i’ve been putting it off for a while.
it’s a waste of time. and i know it’s a waste of time…but i’m doing it anyway… maybe the feeling is hopelessness?
naw… it’s not THAT hopeless… compared to other people’s situations….
i have opportunities.
so that’s something.
so i’m on this question where they basically ask me to relate my academic ‘credentials’ to the position i’m applying for.
so, my degree is a Bachelors in Administrative and Commercial Studies…. specializing in Finance and Administration combined with Economics.
(wow, talk about a mouthful!)
and the position i’m applying for is in the area of ‘Business and Financial Planning’.
sounds like a perfect fit, doesn’t it?
…well, i can’t find anything to say.
I took a course in Finance once…and… Management Accounting… heh.
everything about this application is pitiful.
it’s sad really.
i think the job sounds BORING!
that’s the saddest part.
well…. i’ve decided to give it a rest.
maybe i’ll come back to it on Sunday with some gusto and crazy good ideas of what to write.
nighty-nite.
mmmm
there’s nothing like putting away laundry on a cold day..
toasty clothes.
mmm…

I found this pic through google. it reminded me that i haven’t played with Sims in a loooooong time!!
apparently an elevator malfunctioned in a “National Life” building in Toronto today. it plunged 5 floors… and stopped in the basement.
the elevator itself wasn’t crushed or anything though… so that was good.
the passengers all had broken ankles, and some other fractures.
heh, the news report i read said they were all in good spirits, considering.
i suppose after all that, you’d be glad that you didn’t die.
still though, i think i’d freak out… like go hysterical after i realize i was still alive.
anyways, i thought that was interesting, b/c you don’t really hear of elevators falling like that. except on tv. (or Misssion Impossible 1)
Is anyone else totally not in the ’school’ mood?
i’ve basically done nothing since school started this term. Some days i come home and think, “okay, i’m going to do some readings tonight” and then i find other things to do. (ie, surf the net… watch tv…talk to ppl via msn)
i’ve read one chapter of business law since school started. out of all my course readings…. and that’s only b/c i find the stuff interesting.
i’m not complaining or anything, cuz it’s totally my own doing, but just wondering if its just me.
it probably is… cuz everyone i talk to is doing assignments and writing papers and exams…
meh.
okay.
i’m going to do readings.
right now.
seriously.
today’s doodle.
i think Google Doodles are so cool.
so here’s today’s:

It’s Mozart’s b-day!
:D
tonight was Scrubs Nite at a friend’s place.
on the way there, i was crossing a semi-busy street and was startled…by my own music.
(for some reason ‘Dreams’ by DeGraw is always realllly loud!)
so as i’m turning it down, i arrive at the other side of the street where, as i was passing some man, he stops and says ‘hello’ and waves at me.
based on past experience, i’ve decided that it’s a bad idea to stop and talk to strange people.
so i smiled and continued walking away from him.
he may have had some kind of mental problem… i dunno.
i’m not really good at picking up on that kind of thing.
Scrubs had their 100th episode tonight!
wooohooo! CELEBRATION!
The episode was so SO well done!
good writing, good acting, good music, good directing….
well done Scrubs, well done!!!!
… it was the OTHER episode that i had originally been very excited about. Jason Bateman was in it! and he’s a very funnny actor.
unfortunately that was a big flop. i think he said all of 2 lines in the whole thing.
booooourns….
but anyways
When i left my friend’s place, i was walking down the side of the street and a car was coming up behind me. as it was passing me the passenger side window rolled down and the driver told me he loved me.
boy.
the freaks really do come out at night.
a final thought on election stuff. (yeah right)
those speeches by the politicians yesterday were PAINFUL!!
the guy says one sentence. the people cheer. another sentence. cheering again. sentence. cheering. sentence. cheering.
after a while i got fed up and went to sleep.
heh, i didn’t want to hear what Harper had to say anyway.
so i’m sitting in biz law class today and i’m talking to people on msn and my mom & sis are sending me emails.
i seriously, almost burst out laughing, on like 10 different occasions.
it was bad.
here the prof is, talking about Tort Law (a perfectly not funny topic) and i’m sitting there in the second row smiling my face off.
…i tried to hide the smile… i don’t think i was very successful.
i should stop using the net during class.
it’s not even a boring class…
i just do it because i can.
randomly my mom sends me an email:
“go to EZrock.com.
Right now - the song is on”
lol.
i shot her back an email telling her i was in class.
…silly lady.
after class i shamelessly hit my prof up for some free legal advice. ![]()
poor guy. he must get that a lot.
haha, oh well.
…what i shouldve done is asked the question hypothetically and somehow linked it to what we were learning in class.
…next time.
what i learned today.
apparently assisting with a suicide isn’t illegal in Oregon, USA.
It only applies to extremely sick people though.
(ppl with incurable diseases who are not mentally incapacitated in any way.) And at least 2 doctors have to agree that the person only has 6 months or less to live.
i didn’t know that.
i was just watching the video for ‘Shelter in the Rain’ by Stevie Wonder. The video has clips from the Hurricane Katrina devastation in it.
it was sad.
really really really sad.
:-(
the proceeds from the sale of that single go towards relief efforts re: Hurricane Katrina.
look! i figured out how to change the font colour!
it wasn’t very difficult at all, actually…. ![]()
more election stuff
k, hopefully after today i’ll have all this election related mumbo jumbo out of my thoughts.
according to this cbc article, new Canadians/ immigrant groups vote in lower numbers than people who were born in Canada.
partly because of the confusion with a new language.
and they don’t realize that they can take an hour off from work, to vote.
they also pointed out that some people come from countries with just one party, where the voting process is a joke… so they come here, and don’t realize that there is a true democratic process in Canada.
anyways, so now i know about that.
someone asked me a while ago if they close schools on election days. ..i figured that they do, b/c they can’t just have random people walking around the school while class is in session!
…i was wrong though.
i went this morning and there were kids in the classes.
that can’t be safe.
having random people wandering around the school while the children are there.
although, the teachers probably keep a close eye on things.
plus, the polls probably aren’t that busy during the day.
so, i’m in class right now, and i feel like i’m missing a lot of what’s going on…. cuz i tune him out everytime i go to write something here.
:)
haha.
wine
i learned something today!
according to http://www.itchysquirrel.com/
you can tell how expensive a bottle of wine is, according to the depth of the ‘dimple’ at the bottom of the bottle.
the deeper it is, the more expensive the wine.
the guy seemed to have a lot of time on his hands.
“For once i won’t let sorrow hurt, not like its hurt me before!”
(sorry. i’m listening to Stevie Wonder and just can’t contain myself.)
