“All the Pretty Girls go to City”

[Spoon]
today was great.

one of my friends from first year (who is now going to UBC) came to T.O and we got to hang out!
it was seriously like i was the tourist and she was showing me around though.
it’s kinda pitiful how bad my knowledge of Toronto is..
*shrug* :)

so we met up at Eatons Shopping Centre and went to Dundas Square (across the street) and browsed at the gimcracks for 5 minutes.
then we walked to the Princess of Wales Theatre, China Town, Kensington Market and Little Italy.

seriously, i feel like i saw SO much of Toronto!
I LOVED IT!

and by then our legs were going to fall off and we were really tired so we decided to take a street car down the street.

My first time taking a street car!
(well, my mom says i’ve taken them before, but i can’t remember doing so.)
my concern was that we didn’t know which route to take and my friend was concerned about how we were going to get on the thing.
seriously, are u just supposed to randomly walk out into the street?!

so we went to a stop where people were already waiting for the car and they literally just walked out into the middle of the road and waited for the car!
we followed them.

then we got off and tranferred cars.
the second car was driving alone fine and then all of a sudden it went underground and we were like, ’shoot! is that supposed to happen?!!’
but we realized that no one else on the car seemed to be at the least bit surprised.
so we stopped freaking out.

for dinner we went to a GREAT restaurant called Hotspot Cafe. (it’s on Bloor Street by Spadina.)
i’m definitely going back there again.
the prices were GREAT and it had a classy/comfortable feel.
AND the food was good! :D

When we first got there I went to go to the washroom and as i get to the men/women doors i realize that there are actually no words on the doors, but instead just pictures.
the first was a silhouette of a person playing a saxophone and the second door had a picture of a the silhouette of a cabaret woman.

it caught me off guard and so I stood there and thought, “am i supposed to choose the one that I prefer, or what?”
because the ‘man’ picture could’ve been a bald woman…

well, i decided i’d been in the hallway too long, so i chose the door with the cabaret woman.
and then when i opened the door there was a sign on the wall with a poem or something on it and the title “MEN” written largely at the top.

and so that stopped me in my tracks again.
i only hesitated for a second though b/c it was a single washroom and there wasn’t a urinal in there, so i figured it didn’t matter if i was in the wrong washroom.

when i returned to my seat I was shocked and appalled at this HUGE window and how clean it was!

HotSpot Cafe

i just sat there staring at it as people walked by.
it was literally the cleanest window i’d ever seen.

and then someone who was walking by stepped through the window and into the restaurant.

haha, my bad.

so that was basically my day’s adventure. i had a good time.

Toronto’s a cool place. i should go there more often.
