sometimes i surprise even myself…
with the words that come out of my mouth.
at the dinner table, i just told my brother:
“If you had a daughter and asked me to name her, i’d name her ‘Vodka’.”

today’s Cup of the Day is ORANGE! yay!!

a couple weeks ago, i found my old stash of embroidery floss (from back when i used to make bracelets) and i figured i should do something with it!

ELEPHANT CARDS!! ![]()

actually, they’re not cards yet…. i’ll have to glue them onto cards.
but i like them a lot. mostly cuz they’re elephants…and they take me forever to finish
i like Western.
today’s cup:

i like this cup. it always makes me laugh.
it’s a ‘UWO Residence Life’ cup and it lists all the residences at Western.
(except the two newest ones)
it makes me laugh though, b/c it was given to me as a ‘thank you’ gift after i did a presentation at a residence during my first job with the uni.
what’s funny though, is that i worked under the same department as the residence people, and the presentation was part of my job responsibilities, so it was like i was getting a present from my own department for doing my job.
i’m excitied about tomorrow’s cup! it’s new and its orange!
i went bandaid shopping this morning.
and look what i found!

brightly coloured sponge-y bandaids!
they’re pretty exciting, if i do say so myself…. although i don’t think they come in orange or green… just yellow, red, blue and purple.
that’s okay though.
turns out, they’re the same kind that i would get when i donated blood! (…when they prick your finger to check your iron level…)
i say, those red circle bandaids were the best tangible reward from giving blood.
anyways,
as planned, i went tree planting with my parents this morning.
it was fun.
and muddy.
we did 63 trees and i was the official Mulcher.
basically, i just collected the mulch andput it on top. it allowed me to keep my hands clean! which means i could take pictures without messing up my camera!
so here’s the area:

basically it was a mining company that collected all they wanted from that specific area, so now they’re replanting the type of trees that were there before they cut them down.
here’s the mining stuff:

they mine ‘aggregates’….ie, gravel. ![]()

here’s a sign we saw when we drove up to the place:

..good to know…
our ‘gear’. ..and boots.

lol, i love my mom’s old school boots. i learned how to tie shoelaces on those shoes.
a cute matching family:

and the trees:

`blop
i like that Michael Buble song: “Everything” it’s cute.
it’s you, it’s you, you make me sing.
you’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything.
oddly enough, that song reminds me of Dollarama. ![]()
i think it’s cuz the first time i sang along to the song was when i was walking around that store.
i wasn’t a fan of his. …but that’ll probably change, cuz i don’t really have a valid excuse.
speaking of music, last week when i was at Chapters i saw Carla Bruni’s album “Quelqu’un M’a Dit” up by the cash registers!
i was shocked!
i was tempted to make an impulse buy, but it was $18. and that’s just too much.
so i was confused. why was Chapters selling this 2-year old french cd all of a sudden?!
today, i found out why.
Bruni released an english cd in February!!

it’s pretty cool, if i do say so myself.
superficially, the cd case/jacket is nice. …pretty pictures and i like the feel of the paper. ![]()
more substantially, the music is really good!! bruni still has her calm ‘airy’ voice, and the songs are all from poems by random people like Emily Dickinson, William Butler Yeats and Dorothy Parker.
and along with the lyrics, the cd booklet has mini bios of all the artists. so that’s fun too.
so anyways i laid off the card-making for the past couple days.
instead, i found Freezer paper (MAN that stuff is hard to track down!) and used it to make tissue paper envelopes! here are yesterday’s fun ones:

and today i wanted to see what would happen if i used wrapping paper… it didn’t really work as well…

today’s cup was a gift from mandy!! inspired by my “someone should invent see-through mugs” comment a couple years ago.
i really like it. it’s HUGE! and huge cups are more fun. ![]()

plus i enjoy drinking coffee products in it that AREN’T from Starbucks.
so i was thinking, how cool would it be to have a set of mismatching dishes!
i mean like when moving into a new house or something, instead of buying a 16-piece set, buy different pieces from different sources.
maybe over the span of a few months, only buying a max of 2 matching pieces…
then any meal, or dinner party will be more fun cuz you can choose what dish you want, and each one would hold a specific memory…
maybe i’ll do that when i eventually move out.
so we don’t have a first aid kit in the house.
i think we should get one.
cuz it’d come in handy in situations where i decide to have oranges for dinner and i accidentally slice my finger with a giant knife.
and then time stands still when i look at my finger, realizing what i’ve done, and not seeing any blood.
until it suddenly starts gushing and i move to the sink and it keeps flowing.
and i look in the shelf where the bandaids usually are, but all i see is an empty box.
so i wrap my finger in a paper towel and casually walk over to my brother, ‘hey…do we have any bandaids?”
bro: ‘yeah, in the kitchen.’
me: ‘the Dora [The Explorer] ones?’
bro: ‘yeah’
me: ‘the box is empty’
bro: ‘oh.’
me: [mumbling as i walk away] ‘…i think i need a bandaid right now…’
and then after looking in a few other places around the house where bandaids might hide, i start to think, ‘what ARE bandaids anyway? …sure they have some ’solution’ on them, but they’re really just papertowel-y stuff with tape on them…
so i decide to stick with my bloody papertowel.
but yeah, in a situation like that, i think a first aid kit might come in handy.
maybe i’ll buy one from the dollarstore.
speaking of which, i saw the weirdest thing in the dollarstore a few weeks ago: Pregnancy Tests.
seriously.
i was tempted to buy one just to see if it would say i’m pregnant.
i mean, WHY do they have those?!
is anyone seriously going to buy it?!
and if someone did, would they even trust the results?!
i guess ppl might get them as gag gifts or something. …but still, what kind of joke is that?
the other day i saw those old school ’single use’ cameras at a dollarstore.
i was so excited that they’re so cheap.
i’m trying to think ways i could use them…
it’s 1 o’clock in the morning and i’m applying for jobs.
i do this often…and it always makes me wonder if i ruin my chances of getting jobs by applying at these crazy hours when i stop thinking clearly and no doubt make ridiculous spelling/grammer mistakes.
like run-on sentences.
i’m listening to Angels by Robin Thicke for the first time right now.
it’s the last song on the cd and somehow i hadn’t made my way to it…until now.
i love the piano!!
so that song will be going on repeat.
surprisingly, i’m a fan of J.Timberlake’s song “What Goes Around” too.
i had that one on repeat for an hour or so.
i think i might be going tree planting this weekend!
yay dirt!!
so i had dinner at like 10pm tonight, so i’m currently ’stalling’ sleep so that i will fully digest my meal.
if i wasn’t enjoying my music so much i’d go watch tv…
…maybe i’ll go read a book
Today’s Cup Of The Day is my big ChryFi mug:

so, i’m sure some of you aren’t familiar with this Cup of the Day thing.
haha, that might be because i just made it up. ![]()
well, over the past couple years i noticed that whenever i’m living at home (like, instead of at school) i use up a WHOLE lot of cups/glasses/mugs every day.
like one for every drink of water, juice, coffee whatever.
i guess it was easy for me to do that b/c i would put them in the dishwasher, so it wasn’t like i saw them all together in the sink.
but these days i tend to be handwashing things more, so i decided that i’m cutting down to one cup a day. (ideally)
and it’s fun!
…you know, in the morning deciding which cup i’ll be using.
so every day, until i use up my Cool Cups Collection, i’ll be posting pics of the cup i choose.
…actually, i’m just joking. but who knows, if i spend all day doing nothing of interest, i might have to take pics of mugs.
…i must say though, i do have some fun ones.
but anyways.
I WENT TO WESTERN YESTERDAY!!!
it was very exciting.
monday night, Van and i were trying to decide what ‘exciting thing’ to do on Tuesday.
toronto? port credit? niagara?
“is there anything in Oshawa?”
“i don’t think so.”
we landed in London. and it was a fun daytrip!
uni is as pretty as i remember it!
in card/stationary-making news, i made some 7-dot flower cards yesterday.
i’ve got to say, i like them a lot more than the 6dot flowers i was doing before:

and today’s stuff was more ‘line’ related:

…i need to stop…
so nothing significantly significant has happened lately.
this afternoon i was in the kitchen listening to Imogen Heap and playing with dots and my Bro came in, dressed like he was gonna go out.
i was singing along to the music (of course) and at that moment, i sang, “I think you better leave!”
hah, it was a funny moment.
so anyways, it’s time to fall back on my ‘fall back’ topic: making stuff!
i punched out a lot of dots over the past couple days:

and today i put dot-flowers on envelopes and paper:

…i’m gonna have to write a lot of letters…
i just found out that my favourite old school movie theatre closed down last week!
:(
sigh.
i really enjoyed watching movies for $4.
anyways, the song of the week was “The Walk” by Imogen Heap.
It’s a very fun ‘must move’ song.
a ‘prance around the house’ song.
a ‘crazy dance in the car’ song.
it was in my head yesterday morning when i woke up, so the first thing i did was play it on full blast.
when i came out of my room I saw my mom hopping around downstairs doing doing aerobics and jumping jacks to the song.
cracked me up.
it’s just THAT kinda song!
anyways,
i spent a couple hours reading a book in a parking garage yesterday night.
(how RANDOM is THAT?!)
i also spent a few minutes taking pictures. ![]()
