wow… i have a LOT to say.
i’m just going to be general in this short entry about the cruise b/c i’ll be talking about each country in more specifics later on.
(i’ll be uploading those posts as “Pages”, so they’ll only show up as links over in the right hand column under the title ‘Pages’. right now there are only 2 ‘Note to Self’ entries there.)
so the cruise was great.
i highly recommend it.
a day or two before we left Canada i realized that i was seriously unprepared for the trip.
for one, i didn’t know anything about the flight itinerary… i wasn’t sure where we were going… i didn’t know the exact date we’d be back in Canada…. i didn’t have any foreign cash…
but it all worked out.
plus it was nice to not have to worry/care about all the details.
all i had to do was have my passport and my parents handled everything else!
the cruise went from Venice, Italy; to Split, Croatia; Corfu, Greece; Katakalon, Greece; Santorini, Greece; Naples, Italy; and finally to Rome, Italy.
we stayed overnight in Venice and at the end we hung around Rome for a couple days.
Venice is definitely my favourite place out of them all.
i knew it would be though!

how could u NOT love all that WATER!!!
besides that though, i love the winding pathways and cute alleys that go in all kinds of directions…and the stores were ‘my kind of stores’…. small shoppes selling random things… we didn’t go into any (boo!!!) but that’s okay, cuz i’ll go into them next time.
the ship itself was interesting.
though it wasn’t exactly what i was expecting…
it’s like a ‘make your own entertainment’ kind of atmosphere.
what i mean by that is, there are lots of options of things that you can do… ex, Art Auction, Bingo, Casino, (hehe alphabetical order!) live shows, swim, pingpong, gym, etc.
so if you’re bored, you know it’s your own fault.
as much as i was looking forward to the free musicals (hah! i was SO excited about that!) i didn’t actually watch any in their entirety.
they were not the kind of musicals i envisioned.
i was thinking of like West Side Story or something…
but all the entertainment they had was more corny ‘belt out the song at the top of your lungs’ kind of performances.
the free food was good, but i wasn’t a fan of a few things…
like the main restaurant was a real upscale place and they scheduled ‘formal nights’ for two of the nights, so everyone had to dress up.
i suppose that’s probably fun for some people, but it’s not for me…so i ended up skipping those nights and eating at the buffet place instead. only problem is the buffet food was significantly lower in quality.
and they had a couple ‘food events’ where they’d put on an ice sculpting show (or something) and have this extravagant gourmet food/dessert buffet….at MIDNIGHT!
my parents ended up going to them, but my sis and i skipped them both. i mean, why would we eat at midnight?!
i think the company planned the events at midnight so that they didn’t have to make as much of the special food, cuz they knew a lot of people wouldn’t eat all that food so late at night.
ooo i had my first martini on the cruise!
i think it was my first night there. i ordered an Appletini as a salute to Scrubs. hah.
speaking of tv, i HAVE to mention the flight home.
on the 8hr flight from Germany to ‘Sauga we had this new AirCanada plane with mini touchscreens behind everyone’s seat.
so we could watch whatever movies, tv shows we wanted.
i couldn’t help myself. it was like 8 continuous hours of watching tv.
i watched Children of Men, which was pretty interesting. …not as freaky as the previews look. and i watched an old Cdn movie about a gambler ‘Mahoney’ or something. the main character was played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. so that was interesting too.
and then there were the tv shows. they had Arrested Development!!!!, and even better: la job!!! The French Canadian version of The Office!!!
it was so good! they had the first episode from the first season, which is basically the same in all the versions, so i knew what was going on, even though it was in french!!
i was so impressed with air canada during that flight.
i’m not quite sure what else i want to say about the cruise in this post. …if i forgot something i’ll probably mention it in the Pages.
