FRIDAY!

November 30, 2007

Thank God it’s Friday!!!

I always find it so hard when I come home after a stressful day at work, and then have to get up the next morning and go back there.

So I’m excited about tomorrow.
sleeping and whatnot.

I came to work super early this morning. It was fun b/c I got to see my old bus friends from two weeks ago.
(lol, I’m trying to be optimistic…but really I’m just lying. :) Waking up at 5:30am isn’t fun. …and neither is shivering on a bus.

but actually, it was “fun” to see people on the bus who I “recognize”.
I could never pick them out of a line up, but I can remember who gets off where, and sometimes little silly things I’ve seen them do.
(like one woman once boarded the bus and then fell into her seat when the bus started moving again. She chuckled. It was cute.)

One thing I find interesting is how things in life tend prepare you for future things.
Like this job is, in some ways, a sum of my previous jobs.
not all of them… but some of them.
I’m thinking specifically of my previous job and this current one. In Guyana I worked with an “C.S Advisory Committee” and now I’m working with a “C.S Advisory Committe”
…yes, the C and S mean totally different things, but isn’t that interesting?

so re: my desk decoration woes, I brought a green/white Kiwi Punch Designs G’Day card to my desk, and it sits beside my monitor and smiles at me.
I’ve also started putting up random smoking cessation posters on my desk. So that’s fun. Soon I’ll be able to counsel smokers. :)

I’m thinking that I’ll put up random paraphernalia around my desk for all my projects.
…but then I thought about it and realized that it would a pretty dismal place to sit all day.
smoking…suicide….ostomy…

yikes.

anyways, TODAY IS THE DAY! and i’m so excited about it.

and that is the end of this hodge-podge of a post.

ouchy

November 29, 2007

I slammed my finger in the car door today.
ouch.

I couldn’t believe how much it hurt. and there was ‘nothing’ I could do to relieve the pain!!
I just sat there and bit my lip.

so yes, I’m typing awkwardly….

Here’s a picture from this morning:

looks quiet eh?

oh, and I picked up these at Second Cup:

“Delicate Pear” flavoured Green Tea Mints.
ridiculously expensive.

The label on the side makes me laugh. hah!! “Enlighten your mouth”

I haven’t tried them yet.
…hopefully they’re not disgusting.

accosted by smells

November 28, 2007

the bakers were out in full forse this morning… Smells hitting me at all angles!
They were super yummy though, so it was pleasant. :)

Starbucks coffee… freshly baked muffins/cookies/doughnuts…
it ended off with Subway bread, which is a yummy smell, but not necessarily something you want to smell first thing in the morning. (you know, garlicy and whatnot…)

–> ooo Franz Ferdinand just started playing in my ears! yayyyy “i say..take me out!” < --

Last week I discovered an Essence du papier store along my walk to/from work.
That's right! AN ENTIRE PIERRE BELVEDERE STORE!!

I can’t even explain how excited I was to see it.

I haven’t been in it yet b/c I know that I won’t be able to restrain myself. And I actually do have a whole lot of stationary. (Not even including my own KPD cards!)

So I’ve decided that I will wait until Friday. (ie, Pay Day!)

I love Belvedere stuff…. I’ve only ever seen it at Chapters, and it’s SO pretty and affordable! yum.

So there’s that.

I saw a truck this morning for a company called Mr. Shredder: The Document Destruction Company
For whatever reason, I found it hilarious.
Like I heard one of those menacing tv voices reading the slogan to me.

it’s getting busy….

November 26, 2007

Work today was pretty busy!
I was pretty surprised.

I did a lot of different things… had a couple meetings, made up some promo packages, created some Word documents, wrote a couple letters….

Mid last week I became the assistant for a new project at work, called “Ostomy”.

Today I finally decided to find out what exactly that is.
(It’s fairly disgusting.)

So it should be interesting working on that for the next few months (years?).

This week should be interesting. I’m going to be staying in ‘Sauga on Wednesday! yay…

I still love it ….kinda

November 25, 2007

Alright, so I know I just posted the previous entry a couple hours ago,
but I have some more things to say about my new toy.

I did end up buying an extended warranty on it.

Actually it was a fun story. I asked the sales guy about the warranty and he started telling me all the benefits of it, and I was acting like I was totally into getting the warranty, and then he took $10 off the price of it! For like no particular reason! wooohooo! …I was impressed with that.
OH, and he also mentioned that I can bring it in for any reason whatsoever…. INCLUDING headphone issues. YAY!!! Knowing my track record with headphones, I’ll probably be in there next week!)

So yes, I made sure that i definitely got the warranty b/c I think these ‘cheap’ products have a life of about a year.
My bro’s Archos had major battery problems and he had to get rid of it after a year.
And my iRiver died within a year. (ugh, I’m so upset about that.)

Well, I’m having issues with the Archos ALREADY! (How annoying is that!?!)

Basically it’s frozen right now. …the second time today that it has done so.
And I’m not sure what to do with it to unfreeze it.
It doesn’t have an external battery that I could remove… so who knows.

So I still like it and all that. …but I’m annoyed with it.

my new toy

I got it! I got it!!

My new Archos 605!!

yup, I took a picture of it with a picture of it on the screen! :)

I bought it on Friday at the Eaton’s Centre during my lunch break. (I should keep track of how much money I spend downtown!!)

Right before I left for Best Buy I forgot all the reasons why I didn’t want an iPod Touch.
And then I found a comparison article online and it re-convinced me to get the Archos.

I like it!

Youpi!

November 23, 2007

It’s friday!

YAYYYYYY

It’s very exciting.

I have the whole house to myself!

My plan for tonight is to do some heavy duty blog reading.
Last time I checked I had 165new entries to read.
wowza.

oh meetings….

November 22, 2007

so today was an all-day departmental meeting.

I suppose it sounds fun… not doing any work all day…. having a catered lunch… being out of the office..

It wasn’t so much fun though.
For one, it was really tiring! You’re not doing any work, but you do have to be ‘on’ for the whole time… listening to people and whatnot.

Ugh, the worst part was the people.
lol.
Alright so the people themselves are fine. It’s just the fact that 8 hours is a long time to spend talking to them!

By the end of lunch I just wanted to be alone. …no more social-ness… I needed some me-time!
One thing about being off-site is that you can’t really go anywhere. you’re just kinda stuck in this one room.
It’s times like that where I see the benefit of smoking. I kinda wished that I was a smoker so I’d have an excuse to go outside and stand around by myself.

….okay those above 2 sentences aren’t really true. I think smoking is horrible.
It cracks me up to say “benefit of smoking” b/c I’m actually working on a smoking cessation project at work.
like, that’s my job.

Anyways,
After the meeting I followed some people to The Eaton’s Centre. why? b/c I thought it was semi-close to where I wanted to go.
turns out it wasn’t. …my bad.

So I was lost for a while there (big surprise) and then I found a subway and hopped on that.
After transporting me to somewhere they announced that there would be a delay for an indeterminate amount of time b/c the power was out at a different station.
So that sucked.
I ended up retracing my ’steps’ and going all the way back to Union to take the train home instead.
I should be thankful that I have two different modes that I can take.

yeah… thankfulness is good.
I’m in a bad mood, so it’s time for a Thankfulness list!

    - 2 different modes of transportation to come home
    - having money so I didn’t have to worry about losing my $2.50 subway fare
    - the song “Could it be I’m falling in love” by The Spinners
    - my toasty warm house
    - not falling on the icy sidewalks
    - my brown oversized hoodie
    - hot chocolate
    - a seat on the train
    - a book to read during my commute
    - the audible subway announcements
