seriously, why does Mac keep making it so hard to hate them?
I just saw that commercial for the first time. It’s Hana’s song!!

Today was turning up dimes!
I just made up a new phrase! It means, ‘I kept finding dimes today!’
(well… I found two. …but still, that’s a lot! I mean, when do you ever just randomly find dimes?)
unrelated picture:

I woke up a little late this morning and then spent too much time being “spaced out” so I missed the bus to the train station.
But… I wasn’t too distraught about it b/c with the late bus, I get to work about 10-15 minutes late, which is when some people arrive every morning, so I today I’d be late too. whatever!
so after feeling calm about my lateness, I caught the bus and arrived at the train station.
As I was standing on the platform, waiting for the train, some guy asked a question to a guy standing beside me.
“Have they said anything about the dah liegh”?
The guy beside me didn’t understand.
“Did they say anything about the dih lay?”
‘The what?’
“the dilay.”
By now another guy standing around helped out.
“The problem. The trouble.”
hah, the guy didn’t even have an accent or anything! Apparently it was just way to early in the morning to understand speech.
:)
So the guy said that the 7:30 train didn’t show up.
— How interesting! So, I would’ve been late for work even if I hadn’t missed the bus!
But then I thought that maybe the man had just arrived to the station too late, and he thought the train didn’t show up, but in fact, he had missed it.
Anyways, we stood there for about 5 or so minutes, waiting for the train, and then there was an announcement on the loud speaker:
“There are engine problems and all the trains are stopped in Milton [that’s where the train line starts].”
there were no options given, no indication of when the problem would be resolved. no hope.
It was basically like, “you’re all screwed…. the end.”
It was kinda funny…. the lack of alternatives…
So I ended up taking the bus back to the station and then hopping on another bus to a subway station and eventually getting to work.
It was a nice journey. I listened to music and played games on my iPod. —oh! last week I discovered that I have Solitare!!! Originally I thought that I didn’t have it, and I was disappointed, but it turns out that I do have it! …they just called it “Klondike” for some reason. And it’s great. I play it all the time now.
The sound effects are so good. I dunno how they did it, but they captured the ‘flip’ sound that cards make when you deal them out…. I love it!
Anyways, I ended up strolling into the office about 1.5 hours late.
“morning!”
no one really missed me, and I wasn’t going to make up the time… but I did end up staying 2hrs late tonight, so it’s all even.
I had a nice laugh with one of my co-workers who I was just talking to yesterday about how my train is never delayed. hahaha.
I’ve been waiting for this!
My Good Magazine arrived today!
YAYYYYY

And it’s good!! (haha, I’m gonna have fun saying that.)
I didn’t read through all the articles, but it’s definitely a really interesting magazine. Lots of info to read. And surprisingly, lots of content!
I totally anticipated that it would be a magazine full of ads, just b/c the total subscription price is going to non-profits… I mean, how do they make their money?
But there aren’t tons of ads!
…and the ads that are in the magazine are so good! (oh dear…)
For example, my fav page of the issue:

Is a bright and colourful and cute ad for globalgiving.org!
Some of the birds are ‘missing’ and there are words!

What a great ad! …I mean, it encourages the viewer to find and read the words… so then you learn about their service!
…though, I can’t remember what the text is. …but maybe that’s just my bad memory acting up again.
moving on….
I love magazines that have tons of things to read. Like, more than just articles.
For example,
see the dots at the top of the page?

That’s a ’subject/topic’ coding system!
So each page has these dots on the top that correspond to the subject matter!

LOVE IT!
next, a cd with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders, Human Rights Watch, and Oxfam America.
The music groups include: Thievery Coporation, The Shins, Spoon, The Cure, Death Cab, Bloc Party, Bright Eyes… I mean, how could you resist?! ![]()

The magazine also had some very interesting charts/graphs.
There was one showing worldwide abortion laws:

And another showing the various marches on Washington:

and a few others.
I definitely like the idea of having these visual displays of information, but the graphs weren’t really “legitimate”, if I can use that word.
For example, the March on Washington one, measured participants based on estimations from the various organizations, things like “approx 1 million attendees”, but who knows if that info is correct or not.
And then there was another chart there they were comparing two things that couldn’t really be compared. …kinda like two different units of measurement.
but anyways, to wrap this post up…
another ad that I thought was cool:

Cheap flights for people doing humanitarian work!
what a great idea!!
I love the song, ‘Amelia’ by Jon McLaughlin.
“ I can’t find my wallet.
I CAN’T FIND MY WALLET!
How am I supposed to find the one that I love?”
love it.
I added a bit of emphasis on the second line…he doesn’t actually scream it. …though I love the fact that he repeats himself. oh, the frustration of loosing things!!
speaking of which, I think I will stick with a non-Blackberry cellphone.
It just makes more sense for me.
I mean, it’s not like I have such pressing emails that I need to respond to them at all hours of the day.
anyways, back to work.
“rock star”… “stock star”… same thing!!
unfortunately I don’t have a direct, direct link…. but this is close enough.
So you could find it by scrolling down the ‘latest videos’…
OR type “rising stock star” in the search field…
OR type “grace wood” in the search field.
It was very exciting today when Fox *finally* put the video on the net. (They were really quick with it actually… just a few hours after it happened.)
I’m proud of her… talking all ’stocky’ and making sense and whatnot…
Guess what I *just* found out!!!
MATLOCK IS FINALLY ON DVD!!!
YAY!!
I did another routine Amazon search for it today, and to my surprise, something came back!!

And I was thinking about just buying an illegitimate copy! (you know…all 11 seasons for $40.)
So, the first season is set to be released in early April. I’m tempted to pre-buy it, but I don’t like the idea of them holding my money AND the product. …so I’ll wait for it. It’s not like I’ll forget.
In other Amazon news, somehow I totally forgot about the Cosby Show, and it looks like seasons 3-6 are out now! …so I just ordered 3 & 4. how exciting!!
Anyways,
The sun was out in full force this morning, so I took pics of the fabric I bought last week!
…my quilt-to-be fabric.

It was a lot of fun to buy.
I had to keep reminding myself to look at the FABRIC, not the hideousness of the clothes.

And then I started to feel guilty. Like, I shouldn’t be buying clothes to cut up, when other people who need lower priced clothes could be wearing them…
And I do still feel a little guilty about that… but at the same time, it’s not like I stole the clothes or anything. They’re there to buy and I bought them and supported the store and whatnot. …so that’s good, right?

It was completely different for me to buy clothes for the fabric. It was fun b/c I didn’t have to pay attention to sizes and all that, and I also wandered into sections that wouldn’t normally go into (like dresses or kid’s clothing), and I have no clue about what *kind* of fabric I need, so it was kinda funny walking around and feeling material. I just ended up picking fabric that didn’t have any ’stretch’ in it…cuz I figured that would be a bad thing.
though, I really have no idea.
…and I’ve noticed that I did end up buying a couple semi-stretching fabrics. …oh well.

I also felt bad about cutting up a few really cute items of clothing.
Like the yellow striped fabric was from an extremely cute kid’s overalls.
If I had a kid I’d make them wear ridiculously bright clothing like that.
I’ve realized that I don’t have any green fabric… bummer.
Maybe I’ll find something in the back of my closet.
I picked up this super cute notebook friday evening after work:
It’s about 4″x5″.

Maybe I’ll call it my ‘Ideas Notebook’, and carry it around everywhere
happy w/e tout le monde.
I just suspended my cellphone.
Bummer.
Union station was crazy packed tonight.
All the GO Trains were cancelled/delayed (all except 2 routes — including mine!!)
So you walk into the station and all you see is a multitude of business people on on their Blackberries.
(I’m generalizing of course… there were other ‘non-business people’ there on cellphones…)
So I decided to finally call my cellphone provider and see how much it’ll cost to replace my lost phone.
I don’t really want to do it yet though, b/c I feel like it’ll turn up somewhere! Like maybe in my dad’s car… or a certain friend’s car/ home.
Maybe I’ll give away my current contract and get a Blackberry!!!! eeeeeee!!
On a totally different note:
I picked up a new Kirk Franklin cd yesterday at Walmart.
Anyone else notice how every once in a while your fav ‘pop’ artists come out with an album and there is absolutely no publicity for it?
I always get so confused when this happens.
Take Maroon 5 for example (I don’t know if I would call them one of my favourites… but if you look at how many times I’ve listened to their songs (on repeat), then yeah, they’d probably be on my favourites list)
they have a new album out.
I saw it on iTunes.
just randomly.
like, not one of those special ads, but just a tiny pic of the cd cover under the ‘new releases’.
What’s up with that?
….maybe the label figured that it wasn’t as marketable/good and decided not to advertise it?
Or maybe it was released too soon after their previous album?
— the same thing happened with the Kirk Franklin’s album that I bought. No ads… no ‘buzz’…..
I refuse to believe that I’ve been *that* oblivious
So I’m watching American Idol right now.
what can I say? I like the show. It’s entertaining.
the bad auditions are not very enjoyable, but I love it when really good people walk in and blow everyone away.
And it seems to me that Simon has been really nice so far. well, in comparison to previous seasons.
They probably told him to tone it down a notch.
That, or they’re just not showing his incredibly rude comments.
I was listening to my iPod on shuffle yesterday and that Five Iron Frenzy song came on.
what fun!!
anyways, so to continue my weekend story (blogsome blocked my home IP address, so I couldn’t blog. …it was kinda funny.)
I DID end up going fabric shopping.
At Goodwill.
I’ll share more about that later when I can take pics of the fabrics. (I’ll have to wait until I’m home during the daylight. …which means it’ll wait until the weekend.)
I picked up a few cds this weekend: (yay Best Buy gift card!)
“Not Too Late” by Norah Jones
“The Hunter’s Lullaby” by Raine Maida
“All the Lost Souls” by James Blunt
…so far, Blunt is in the lead.
Anyways, my super exciting purchase from Goodwill:

A HUGE roll of bright orange paper!!!!
(it’s not florescent like it appears in that picture)
as soon as I saw it I knew that I was going to buy it…as long as it didn’t cost $40. (but still… I might have bought it…)
It weighs about 40lbs (yeah SUPER heavy) and the paper feels a bit thicker than wrapping paper.

i love it.

alright, I’m off for lunch.
a lunch break! how exciting!
