- SwapSity is having a Books/Movies/Music swap this coming Sunday!! exciting!
alas, I don’t think I can make it. boo. I have some good stuff to get rid of too!

- These Tetris wall decals are great!!!

I imagine that if I had these I would just sit around and stare at them, trying to determine where I would position the next piece.
These are from Etsy seller Fame!

- This video is the cutest!!! Post-it Love:

- Did you know that Cardboard Safari has mini life-size rhinos?

I’m gonna keep my eye on them to see if they come out with elephants!!!!!

They’re only $15! … but they’re all booked up right now. boo.

- A ‘new’ Canadian Heritage Moment!
I just saw this one today. It made me sit up and pay attention… Pierce Brosnan is in it!
I had to think twice: “he’s not Canadian…right?”(hah.)
Apparently, all the CHMs are posted on www.histori.ca
This one is about Grey Owl. Interesting history!

- I like President Choice’s orange juice containers.
Each type (pulp, no-pulp, extra calcium, etc) has a different orange slice on them!
This is my fav:

Happy weekend!

September 19, 2009

it’s the weekend! exciting!

Here are a couple things:

#1: Necklush is having a sale!!!

well, maybe an ‘unadvertised’ sale. But in my email conversation with the owners they said I can share the coupon with ppl I know! yay! So the sale is for 15% off. I don’t quite feel like I should post the details online, but you can email me if you want the code! (KiwiPunchDesigns@gmail.com)

I am having MAJOR issues choosing which one I want. Early this week I was set on getting the one pictured above (’natural w/ grey’). But I just looked back on an old post I wrote and now I want to get the colours I liked back then!
(like brown w/ white print or safari!)
hmm

#2. Welcome to you Quarter Life Crisis
(via Gala)
What an interesting read!!

“This phenomenon, known as the “Quarterlife Crisis,” is as ubiquitous as it is intangible. Unrelenting indecision, isolation, confusion and anxiety about working, relationships and direction is reported by people in their mid-twenties to early thirties who are usually urban, middle class and well-educated; those who should be able to capitalize on their youth, unparalleled freedom and free-for-all individuation. They can’t make any decisions, because they don’t know what they want, and they don’t know what they want because they don’t know who they are, and they don’t know who they are because they’re allowed to be anyone they want.”

“He bikes to work at an advertising agency, where he uses his master’s in English to proofread ad copy, and spends several hours reading music blogs and watching movie trailers, periodically Twittering updates about his workday to his 74 followers. He doesn’t really hate his job, but feels as if his skin is crawling with vermin most of the time that he’s there, so he has a plan to move to Thailand, or to maybe write a book. Or go to law school.”

ouch! it stings!

#3. I was reading a few entries from the 1000 Awesome Things blog.
Usually when I read things online that are funny, I might smirk or even chuckle.
This blog had me laughing up a storm.
Like entry #676 “A Perfect Squeegee Job at the Gas Station”.
Heehee “Side Mirror Superstar: “Everyone thinks they can do the side mirrors but the truth is that they’re nearly impossible. ”
so true.
Other fun ones that I read today:
#679 Old School Sugar Cereals “Cap’n Crunch: My friend Chad didn’t know the proper way to spell ‘captain’ until he was twelve.”
#680 Falling asleep when the plane takes off and waking up when it lands. So true!
– #681 Realizing that you’re going to be the background of someone’s picture and smiling at the last second cute!

This picture makes me happy

weekending

August 30, 2009

a brief overview of my weekend:

#1 - Imogen Heap’s new album was released on Tuesday!!!
I spent the majority of the weekend listening to it.
my fav songs so far are - Little Bird, Aha!, & Bad Body Double

#2 - I spent most of Saturday hanging out with a good friend and her family! …They have two little dogs running around.
and now I want a dog. I could make it work! …I’d just have to get a dog walker! …and a dog sitter ….and a bigger apartment… and a backyard…

#3 - at my parent’s place Saturday night - I fooled around a bit with my new-to-me camera.
It’s a point-&-shoot!

fun fun!
It has a ‘Colour Accent’ feature which I am a big fan of.
It takes a scene like this:

and captures it like this:

hmm, that’s probably not the *best* example of the feature…
oh well.

#4 - I continued snapping pictures of those bright yellow flowers.

some of them are deformed with petals growing out the middle..

#5 - The weekend continued with church on Sunday (yay!) and crafting.
a few bees:

a green Tree on the Wall:

and…..

A new Star Pillow prototype!!!

It took me at least 1.5hours to put it together, but of course, I’m super excited about it.

hugs.

it’s Friday!!!!

August 28, 2009

This has been one of the longest weeks. So long in fact, that on Wednesday I decided that I should take Friday off from work.

But of course, stuff happened and I decided to go into the office on Friday so that I could finish up the things that I wanted to get accomplished this week.

oh well.
maybe I’ll take next Friday off.

so a friend and I might be spending Saturday doing something from Sarah Von’s list of 25 Cheap or Free Thrills!! fun!

I think she also mentioned this on her blog: 26 Things: A photographic scavenger hunt!

who’s heard of Jelly!?
From their website: “Jelly is a casual working event. It’s taken place in over a hundred cities where people have come together (in a person’s home, a coffee shop, or an office) to work for the day. We provide chairs and sofas, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of.
You bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get your work done) and a friendly disposition.”

I love it!!
…if only….

one more thing….
Here’s what I’ve been working on lately!!!

I call it a “Song on the Wall“!!!
(I’m super super excited to see this idea realized!)

So the idea is - each piece features a soundwave and lyric from your favourite song.
more info and pictures here. …and in my Etsy shop!

(and yes, that is a Milli Vanilli song above. :)

listening to the Scrubs Musical

August 15, 2009

I wonder if I’m the only person who is obsessed with the Scrubs musical.
…I can’t be, right? I mean, it’s an AMAZING episode!!!!

I’m sitting in Starbucks right now (hah - when am I not in Starbucks?)
I spent a good portion of the day walking along Queen St, and now I’m pooped.

Speaking of poop…I saw these cards in The OuterLayer store on Queen St:

pretty, right?

They’re made out of elephant poo!
Nope - I’m not joking.

Visit their website!

I’m horrified and loving it at the same time.

Speaking of being horrified… I had an interesting placenta-laden conversation with some co-workers the other day.
Apparently I am one of a few people who didn’t realize that some people - HUMANS - eat their placenta.

The people I was with were having a common, everyday placenta conversation, and every few minutes I would have to remind myself to lift my jaw up from off the floor.

No one at the table had eaten her placenta, but one person did plant it in her backyard an grow a tree.
…what?

For some reason I assume that there would be some municipal law against planting human tissue. …like something to do with the sewage system?

at one point I was convinced that the entire conversation was just some joke intended to trick the gullible people. but no, apparently I’m completely out-of-the-loop when it comes to newage placenta etiquette.
…but I’m okay with that.

anyways, I’ve decided that I’ve (finally) finished my 3/50 project!
As I’ve mentioned before, the 3/50 project is about supporting local businesses. The idea is to choose 3 local brick and motar stores that you love and go there and spend $50 to support them!
During my wanderings today I went to my fav stores on Queen st and spent money.
(Now, I didn’t spend $50 at each store, because I didn’t want to ‘waste’ my money on items that I wouldn’t use, but I still count those stores as part of the project because I spent $150ish in total. :)

#1 - Pages Bookstore.
They’re closing. boo.
I bought stuff from them a few weeks ago.

#2 - The Outer Layer.
love that store! (I’ve mentioned that before… )

#3 - Arton Crafts Inc

Arton Crafts is a retail/wholesale bead supply shop.
I’m a fan because they seem to have some of the lowest prices and best selection around.
I also like the fact that they have completely divided up their one store into two separate stores. (separate entrances and everything.)
The one side has semi-precious beads/jewels and delicate things, and the other side has more of the wooden beads, which I’m a fan of.
actually, here are some pictures of today’s purchase:

I’ll post pictures if I end up making anything out of them! I tend to buy beads and then just look at them…

#4 - Type Bookstore
In a fan of the decor of this store:

(pics are from a while ago)

#5 - The Paper Place
How can you not love an entire store dedicated to paper?
