distracted

November 19, 2009

I’m *supposed* to be making zillions of cards tonight.

somehow, I end up on looking at ways to completely redo my website. oh dear.

So I went to Metro Hall for lunch today with a coworker and we passed by a film crew. They had a sign that said something like ‘The Rick Mercer Report is filming right now, and by being in this area, you consent to possibly being included in the taping…”
or something along those lines.
Anyways, when I read ‘Rick Mercer Report’ on the sign, I told my friend - “Thank goodness Rick Mercer isn’t here, or else I’ll revert to a school girl and start screaming…” (you know, “IT’S RICK MERCER!!!”)
a couple seconds later, my friend says: ‘wait… isn’t that him right there?’

IT WAS TOTALLY HIM!

AND I TOTALLY STARTED SCREAMING!

just joking.. can you imagine?

It turns out, in situations such as these, my shyness goes into full force. I didn’t take any pictures, didn’t say hello… even when he finished taping his section and sat in a seat behind us.

So now I’m interested to see what my reaction will be if I see the FlashPoint crew filming downtown. I still think I’d completely lose it. (”IT’S HUGH DILLON!!!!!”)

but anyways, Mercer’s skit was fairly comical. At one point he yells out, “I’M GLAD I’M STERILE!” at the top of his lungs.
When he did the first take we chuckled. I was prepared to start clapping after the director said ‘cut’. But the only other people around were the crew, and they weren’t impressed at all.
They had him do a couple retakes and it was funny each time.

Teresa Pavlinek was also there filming something, so that was fun.

I used to watch The Jane Show during my unemployed days.

- SwapSity is having a Books/Movies/Music swap this coming Sunday!! exciting!
alas, I don’t think I can make it. boo. I have some good stuff to get rid of too!

- These Tetris wall decals are great!!!

I imagine that if I had these I would just sit around and stare at them, trying to determine where I would position the next piece.
These are from Etsy seller Fame!

- This video is the cutest!!! Post-it Love:

- Did you know that Cardboard Safari has mini life-size rhinos?

I’m gonna keep my eye on them to see if they come out with elephants!!!!!

They’re only $15! … but they’re all booked up right now. boo.

The website is: http://www.humanmotions.com

- A ‘new’ Canadian Heritage Moment!
I just saw this one today. It made me sit up and pay attention… Pierce Brosnan is in it!
I had to think twice: “he’s not Canadian…right?”(hah.)
Apparently, all the CHMs are posted on www.histori.ca
This one is about Grey Owl. Interesting history!

Each type (pulp, no-pulp, extra calcium, etc) has a different orange slice on them!

I FOUND IT! I FOUND IT!!

hehe “Teamwork”!!

“if you have a dream, you want to make it real, you need a team working up steam to make your deam work. teamwork!”

It’s so funny watching that now.
I dunno how old I was when I first saw it, but I just remember thinking it was amazing.
I do still think it’s fun - especially the fire fighter portion. The basketball game reminds me of west side story. love the snapping.

(hmm … I’m not sure where I got the idea that it was in a library though… maybe that was a different episode.)

anyways, Levar Burton was on The Hour recently.

The interview is pretty interesting!

I found it!

Why Canada Post, Why!!?

April 24, 2009

greetings!

It has been an interesting week.

I locked myself out of my apartment on Thursday.

oops.

The whole thing worked out as well as it could, I suppose.
I had to be in Markham for work, so there was time to ’sort things out’.
I went to work as normal and then stayed at the hotel in Markham on Thursday night. (this was all planned.)
and my mom found the extra set of keys I gave her. and then my dad gave them to be on Friday.
hurrah!

alright, so I’ve learned my lesson…
on Monday I will take my extra set of keys to the office. …instead of leaving them on my coffee table.

Who’s excited about the weekend?! I’m stoked!!

On Flashpoint tonight they went to a club at Wellington & John!
The Entertainment District!!

I was so excited!! That’s close to where I work!
hehe, I wonder if people from NYC get excited when they watch Law and Order?

When I was at the meeting in Markham one of my coworkers mentioned that she was excited to get out of the office. It’s interesting, we have the same position title, but our jobs are so different.
I hadn’t realized that she only gets out of the office when there’s a “big” meeting going on. I feel like I’m out of the office all the time. And I hadn’t really considered it as a ‘bonus’. But I suppose it is nice. A lot of work, but nice too…

So, Canada Post is pissing me off. I wish there was a Canada Post Head Office where I can go for definitive answers. It seems like something like that should exist….
I went to three post offices on Wednesday and each one told me something different. The best was the last one where the lady told me one thing, then contradicted herself, and then, by the time I decided to walk out of there, she had settled on an “I don’t know” answer.
When I left I had that frustrated feeling I would get when I used to go into Future Shop.
I wish there was a “Best Buy-esque” alternative to Canada Post.
Something that provides the same services/products but is more logical and straightforward.

PR tonight!!

April 16, 2009

(That’s “Parks and Recreation“. I’m excited.)

today was a good day!

I saw another random Canadian “celebrity” on the street. This guy:

recognize him?
It’s Jake Epstein!

aka, the guy from this show:

so… seeing as how I’m not 17years old, should I be embarrassed that I apparently know the show well enough to spot one of the actors on the street? …Is it worse given that he left the show a few years ago?

well, in my defense, I don’t actually “watch” the show. I think it just happened to be on tv when I was sitting in front of it. (week after week…)
AND, it’s not like there were tons of people around when I saw Epstein this afternoon. He was standing on a fairly empty corner and looked fairly lost. so that’s something. As my cab driver zipped past him (did I mention I was in a cab?) I thought, ‘that guy looks lost.’ [he was the second ‘lost’ person I saw in the last 5 minutes.] then I thought, ‘hey that’s that guy from Degrassi.’

so that’s how that went.
but anyways, that has nothing to do with why today was a good day!

Someone gave me flowers today!!
It was very sweet.

now, I should say, I actually don’t like the idea of receiving flowers at work. I’m not a big, “hey everyone look at what I got!” type of person. (and then everyone walking by comments on them and you have to explain….ugh.)
but I was excited about the flowers because they signified that I was appreciated, which is a really nice thing to hear.

in other news…
I wore these shoes today:

they have a bit of a heel, but they’re basically flat.
and my feet are killllling me!
part of my left foot is actually red!
…that’s QUITE a feat for my feet! (hah!)
I’m tempted to take a picture and post it for you to understand my shock, but that would be fairly disgusting.
so you’ll just have to imagine it. :)

onward and upward. tomorrow is Friday!

“Bet you never missed an episode!”

April 2, 2009

I’m watching the ER series finale.

Does anyone know if Luka (Dr. Kovac) came back and did a cameo? I didn’t see him in the last couple episodes I watched.

How did he leave anyway? He moved to a different hospital or something?

anyways, so while I’m sitting here, I decided to take an ER quiz!

Here’s my score:

respectable I’d say….

Benylin shall save the day

March 13, 2009

..right?

My cough got worse today so I decided to buy some medicine. This may have been my first time buying cough medicine for myself! I decided to go for Benylin cause it said “Extra-strength” AND “Fast Acting” on the box.

I would’ve gone for Buckley’s but I couldn’t find it.
bummer. I like their commercials.

unrelated:
look how CUTE this commercial is!

When I was walking to the pharmacy some guys behind me used the term “walkie-talkie” and I realized that that is a hilarious word!!
Random knowledge: According to Wikipedia, the walkie-talkie was developed by a Canadian.

More random knowledge I gained today:
Apparently when a T.O police officer is suspended with pay, they have to sign-in to the police headquarters twice a day. (unless they get special permission not to.)
So in the case of one recently suspended officer, he still goes to “work” every morning, signs in, and then hangs out with his co-worker friends.

Anyways,
Guess what Canadian celebrity I saw today:

Yup! George Stroumboulopoulos.
In-person, he looks exactly like how he looks on tv.
