another weekend, another roadtrip to Western!

May 7, 2007

I went on a fun mini roadtrip to Western with Manz today!

we listened to random music (using my favourite ‘new’ gadget: my FM Transmitter!! i’ll no longer have to pack a ‘cd bag’ for long car rides!!) and tried the new sandwiches at Wendy’s… i think we both agree that they’re not bad.

i also got to see Manz’s new place (pretty neighbourhood!!) and there were no bugs around, so hopefully that means that they saw her RAID containers and decided that they’ll keep away from her place for the next year!

and we took pics.
the tulips are in bloom! so that was very exciting.
it’s spring!!

here’s a garbage can that i deemed picture worthy:

there are lots of squirrels on campus. AND at least two bunnies! who knew?!

i love this squirrel sequence:

squirrel is walking around..

hopes on garbage can…looks around to see if anyone is watching…

sees us blatantly staring at it…

decides that we’re harmless:

and then goes for it!

my favourite outdoor hallway:

and some tulips:

western!

April 29, 2007

i like Western.

today’s cup:

i like this cup. it always makes me laugh.
it’s a ‘UWO Residence Life’ cup and it lists all the residences at Western.
(except the two newest ones)

it makes me laugh though, b/c it was given to me as a ‘thank you’ gift after i did a presentation at a residence during my first job with the uni.
what’s funny though, is that i worked under the same department as the residence people, and the presentation was part of my job responsibilities, so it was like i was getting a present from my own department for doing my job.

i’m excitied about tomorrow’s cup! it’s new and its orange!

Cup of the Day

April 25, 2007

Today’s Cup Of The Day is my big ChryFi mug:

so, i’m sure some of you aren’t familiar with this Cup of the Day thing.
haha, that might be because i just made it up. :D
well, over the past couple years i noticed that whenever i’m living at home (like, instead of at school) i use up a WHOLE lot of cups/glasses/mugs every day.
like one for every drink of water, juice, coffee whatever.
i guess it was easy for me to do that b/c i would put them in the dishwasher, so it wasn’t like i saw them all together in the sink.
but these days i tend to be handwashing things more, so i decided that i’m cutting down to one cup a day. (ideally)
and it’s fun!
…you know, in the morning deciding which cup i’ll be using.

so every day, until i use up my Cool Cups Collection, i’ll be posting pics of the cup i choose.

…actually, i’m just joking. but who knows, if i spend all day doing nothing of interest, i might have to take pics of mugs.
…i must say though, i do have some fun ones.

but anyways.
I WENT TO WESTERN YESTERDAY!!!
it was very exciting.
monday night, Van and i were trying to decide what ‘exciting thing’ to do on Tuesday.
toronto? port credit? niagara?
“is there anything in Oshawa?”
“i don’t think so.”
we landed in London. and it was a fun daytrip!
uni is as pretty as i remember it!

in card/stationary-making news, i made some 7-dot flower cards yesterday.
i’ve got to say, i like them a lot more than the 6dot flowers i was doing before:

and today’s stuff was more ‘line’ related:

…i need to stop…

the art of studying

April 21, 2006

it’s interesting seeing how different people “study”.

i’m sitting in the Social Science building right now.

behind me there is a group who are working on questions for an exam. The girl in the group enjoys laughing and every 5-10 minutes she finds someone incredibly amusing to the “laughing until you can’t breathe” point.
it’d be annoying if it wasn’t so funny. :D

the people infront of me are also ’something else’.
the girl is listening to music and i guess she doesn’t know that her humming along to the music on her iPod is fairly annoying.
i just turn up my own music though and the problem is solved.

the guy sitting with her is an interesting character….he can’t seem to sit still.
since i’ve been here he’s gone on a trip to Tim’s, talk to some friends, to take out his contacts, on a trip to the corner store for some chips, and to talk to some friends again…
but hey, they say you have to take lots of breaks right?

if someone was watching me, they’d know that i also seem to be procrastinating a lot… watching part of a Scrubs’ episode, fiddling with my fussy wireless connection, playing FreeCell…
and writing in my blog. :)

eavesdroping

April 4, 2006

listening to part of somone else’s conversation while waiting for class to start…

In my defense though, they were talking really loud… it’s not like i particularly wanted hear what they were saying.

so the guy was asking the girl how hard an assignment was gonna be, since he hasn’t really studied since December.

She said is wasn’t too bad… reassures him etc.

he’s like, “okay. i was just wondering ‘cuz some people are really freaking out, like yadda yadda yadda, saying it’s the hardest thing since, you know, cement…”

she took the comment in stride.
I, on the other hand, crack up (not audibly though), b/c i thought it was a great comment!

AHAHA… ‘the hardest thing since cement.’ :D

“Each candidate will hand the hood to the Hooder who will be standing beside the Chancellor or Pro-Chancellor. Each candidate will kneel on the stool in front of the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellors. The Chancellor and Pro-Chancellors will take the candidate’s hands between his/her own and say, “I admit you”, while at the same time, the Hooder will place the hood over the candidate’s shoulders. The graduate will rise, cross the platform, and leave the auditorium…”

poor kid

March 20, 2006

in class today the prof asked a practically rhetorical question about what GATT (General Agreement on Tarrifs and Trade) was a precursor to.

some kid put up his hand to answer and said, “NAFTA”.

it was so sad.
i was so embarrased for the guy.

i mean, without thinking about it, i knew it was the WTO…

i suppose i could see how he made that mistake… i mean NAFTA is about trade

so, i realized that apparently i’m learning stuff in school…
i just assumed that all that knowledge goes in one ear, stays until the exam, and then leaves out the other ear.
apparently some of it is sticking! :)
…even if it is semi-worthless info about the Uruguay Round.
