our first stop was in Croatia.
now, i'll admit, i knew NOTHING about Croatia.
When i thought of Croatia i thought of 'Luka'....the attractive doctor from E.R. :)
the way the cruise works is that you can go on (costly) tours organized by the ship, or you can do whatever you want... randomly galavant around the area, or even stay on the ship all day.
for almost all the stops, my sis and I randomly roamed the area on foot, while my mom and dad did their own thing....
it worked out well i think, cuz we have different interests than our parents do.
so we accidentally slept in reallly late this first day and frantically jumped out of bed and scrambled off the ship. 'we're going to miss everything!
it all worked out though, cuz you can only wander around for a certain number of hours without getting tired...
Croatia is beautiful by the way.
we were there on a Sunday, so it had a nice not-crowded, some-stores-not-open, easy-going vibe to the place.
of course, the compulsory alley picture:
actually, does this qualify as an alley?...probably not, eh?
the coast was very pretty:

it has this great walkway. it was semi-slippery. ...actually i found that most of the towns we visited were kinda slippery. i dunno what the deal was.... i was wearing running shoes with a slight grip...
during our wanderings we found a photo exhibit of an archeological excavation they had performed and finished quite recently (i'm talking March 2007!) on the waterfront area. ....apparently they found some impressive old stuff. and then they covered it up with the great walkway:

i love the name of this bank, so i had to take a pic of it:
"say it aloud.
isn't it fun?!!
so my sis has this thing with taking pics of English graffiti in non-english-speaking countries.
i think this is the 2nd best one of the whole trip: (the best one was in Rome.)

Let There Be Rock.
i actually don't really have much more to say about Split, Croatia.
it was pretty and peaceful.
